Jason Giatras

Having 28 years of experience in senior care, hard work, and determination, Jason progressed through various roles, gaining valuable hands-on experience in every operational function of senior living.

During Jason’s internship, he coordinated the remodel of a memory care unit, expanding the census of the unit and directing new programming. During the internship, Jason worked in each department and functioned as the dining services director alongside other responsibilities. Shortly thereafter, Jason moved to Nampa, Idaho, to run a 60-bed Skilled Nursing facility, where he again oversaw the expansion of the facility—taking the Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center from 60 to 120 units. Jason was credited with setting up a hospice unit, expanding the number of units, and growing the census to 90% over a two-year period.

Jason later moved back to Utah, where he ran a county-owned Skilled Nursing and Rehab facility. He successfully mediated and ensured quality care for the residents while navigating a board of directors, county commissioners, and financial expectations. During this period, Jason sat on the board of the Emery County Chamber of Commerce, volunteering at city and county events. He later helped grow the overall Medicare census of a small nursing home. Due to this growth, the company was able to build a new Skilled Nursing and Rehab unit, increasing the census from 33 to 80 beds. Jason built relationships with local hospitals and care agencies to ramp up census and improve revenue by focusing on Medicare growth while implementing wound care and incontinence programs.

After taking a break from long-term care to sell real estate and start a company, Cory's House (group homes for disabled adults), Jason transitioned into Assisted and Independent Living, where he managed a 14-acre, 8-building, 247-bed community in Salt Lake City. Jason loved the transition from Skilled Nursing to Assisted/Independent Living, where he thoroughly enjoys working with senior citizens—no two days are the same. He was promoted to assist and train other Executive Directors in Utah and Idaho, helping review financials and excelling at expense control. Jason purchased his first small Assisted Living Community in Springville, UT, 17 years ago and continues to operate/manage it alongside other ventures.

Jason later took on a new role as the Executive Director of a 116-unit Assisted, Independent Living, and Memory Care community in Salt Lake City. He was instrumental in training new Executive Directors and setting up onboarding and training for frontline staff. Jason’s role changed during COVID, where he assisted multiple communities in enhancing the overall resident experience and ensuring safety and compliance for staff and residents during the pandemic.

A former board member of ChamberWest, Jason oversaw the Health Care Committee and lobbied for healthcare-related issues at the Utah State Capitol during legislative sessions.

Jason received a degree in Health Administration from Weber State University. He is part-owner of Wasatch Senior Living, which owns, operates, and manages 14 Assisted Living Communities throughout northern Utah and Idaho. Wasatch Senior Living is known in the community for its quality of care and employee excellence. Jason is directly involved in the company’s day-to-day operations. Jason and his business partner, Rachel, have grown Wasatch Senior Living into a thriving company with a strong team, focusing on serving seniors and inspiring their employees.

Jason and his wife, Emilie, have four children and live in Farmington, UT.
